Okay lah.. Holiday Coming. So dun think u can spread much to others. Good that its cough only.. anyway you still have your Aviva to protect u...touchwood... too bad it didnt cover medical expenses (or covered by the MOE).

4 numbers-- total 10,000 numbers.
Numbers of prizes: 23 (10 starters, 10 consolation, 3 tops)
Chance of winning any = 23/10,000 (or 0.0023)
Toto:
Suppose we simplify the problem, such that we only consider choosing 4 numbers out of 45 numbers (highly approximate)
Chance = 4!/(45*44*43*42)
=0.000007
err... seems like 4D easier to win.
Hao... correct or not?? Or any better model to approximate?
The 2 calculations do make sense. And it really seems easier to win 4D from my mum's experiences. To top it off, I have NOT got a single number on my TOTO tickets drawn for 3 months in a row. That explains why I stopped buying.

Suppose
1st Prize: $2000
2nd Prize: $1000
3rd Prize: $500
Starters: $250
Consolation: $60
If you buy all numbers, you pay $10,000.
But your total winning is $2000+1000+500+250*10+60*10=$6600!
So overall you lost $4400.
No doubt on the surface, it looks like you win a lot, but in fact, you lost even more.

Btw when we buy all the numbers it should be $20,000 instead of $10,000...But when there is a special occasions where the winning is 1million or rather more...we will earn a profit instead of losing more??Btw wads the point saying all this...i can't even buy it...
